frown Just finished the show with Show Me The Body, Jesus Piece, Zulu and Tripp Jones with a truly ferocious Brooklyn Steel performance. And that tour found them playing “Opening Night” and “Shot Down,” two of their upcoming great singles, Will Yip produced. Psychic Dance Routines EP Today they shared the title track. An indie rock reminiscent of songs like Sonic Youth and PJ Harvey that remind you that indie comes straight from hardcore right from the start. Directed by guitarist Malachi Greene, playing along to the song’s text, lead singer Kat Moss said:
My perspective on being seen as the “performing” version of me has changed dramatically. At the same time try to combat the experience of being a female artist in a world that doesn’t take you too seriously.
I try to shift perspectives in the lyrics because I feel that will have the greatest impact on the message I am trying to convey. ‘She will never be your animal. She has her own hell” in its simplest form. I’m explaining that no one can make me understand who I am. And I have bad things My own to deal with. When using ‘She’, I make it clear that I’m also talking about the feminine experience. ‘can’t control myself Think about the love I give.’ I urged my audience to let go of their grip on me and question whether they would allow me to be as serious and vulnerable as I really am.
