Frehley addressed Stanley’s comments earlier this month.
Original Kiss guitarist and co-founder Ace Frehley has called on frontman Paul Stanley to apologize for recent derogatory comments about performing as an original member. The band currently appears on Howard Stern show earlier this month to announce two final performances on Dec. 1 and 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. During an interview with Stern Stanley said the band would be called “Piss” if they performed in the lineup with Frehley and drummer Peter Criss at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
“Because we’re too proud of this list, which is KISS, and it’s been KISS for 20 years, not a newcomer. This is a band,” Stanley said when asked why they refused to perform as an original band. “We will be back in the South American stadium next month. We were there five months ago. we are in japan This is the band that really raises the flag and takes it to the next level. This is the band I’ve always dreamed of being. And for us to get on stage… they really demand Let us play with the original two guys, Peter (Chris) and Ace (Frehley). It would be a disgrace to the band and would confuse some people. Because if you see someone on stage who looks like a kiss but sounds like that, Maybe we should call it Piss.”
“We’ve been around the world for decades with today’s players,” adds Simmons. “It’s worth noting that I’ve never seen a single sign or sign mentioning the other line-ups. When Tommy goes solo ‘Tommy! Tommy!’ That’s me backstage going, ‘Tommy!’ when Eric goes solo, ‘Eric! Eric!’ They’re raising their fists. it’s legal No one is in Kiss and goes by the numbers.”
Today (Wednesday, March 29), Frehley addressed those comments when speaking with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s. stem countryHe said he was disrespected by his former bandmates for decades.
“Sometimes I’ve been with Paul and Jean in the past,” he said. call me an alcoholic say I don’t have a job I can’t rely on… then when we do unplug For MTV, all of a sudden, I got a multi-million dollar offer to come back to the band, ‘Oh, what’s going on? I’m not addicted to drugs now. dependable Will you still try to hire me?’ In fact, they offered me more money than they gave Peter.”
Frehley said he has been touring and releasing new music regularly for over three decades. and did not use the backing tracks on stage, as Kiss manager Doc McGhee recently confirmed.
“Paul’s frustration and insecurities that he had to use backup tapes. And we are only six months apart in age. And I could still go up there, buckle up, press the button, but he couldn’t. and very unfortunate And I’m very sorry that he used a backing track. It makes brands cheaper which affects my profits. Because I still get paid by Kiss to sell their products and whatever they do. And I’m angry about it. But what made me even more angry was what he said. ‘Cause I think what he said hit the belt Because when he said that I’ve been sober for eight years. He was making a statement and trying to project the image to the fans. Howard Stern Show That I couldn’t be trusted back then and it was all a lie. And I think he was just angry that I left the group and that I was still successful.”
Frehley gave Stanley an ultimatum to apologize and retract his statement about calling the band “Piss” within seven days or he would reveal dark secrets about Stanley and Simmons.
“I’m going to make a statement to Paul Stanley right now… I’m telling you I need a formal apology for what you said. and revocation and apology within seven days And if I don’t understand within seven days I’m coming back to Ed Trunk’s show – Your Ed Trunks show if you’ll have me – and I’m going to tell you some unknown dirt about Paul and Gene that I’ve always kept to myself. Because I’m the type of guy who doesn’t talk about it. I like to say good things… Many times those people threw people under the car.”
Frehley confirmed that his attorney had a manuscript he wrote with information that would end Stanley and Simmons’ careers.
“I’m not the grumpy and talkative type. When it comes to negative thinking And we’ve all done things that we’ve regretted over the years. It’s there,” Frehley says. “I have 120 pages of manuscript that I write after I finish reading. My lawyer has it in the safe. God forbid something happened to me. My lawyers have been ordered to publish this story to the New York Times, Rolling Stone, API, and everyone, so they can’t threaten me by trying to hurt me or saying, ‘You shouldn’t say anything about me on the radio,’ so they’ll be totally screwed. Their careers will be destroyed.”
Frehley said he was ready to perform at a December concert.
“I read an interview that Gene and Paul were actually inferring and inviting me. So I think they deceived the fans in some way, because that makes the fans. Thought me and Bruce and Peter would show up. and from what i understand Both concerts were sold out. And I think the fans are waiting for me on stage. I haven’t been contacted officially. If they want me to go on stage at the final concert They have deep pockets of money.”
