In the horrific moment captured by the camera Alisa Carlson Alyssa fainted as she was about to deliver a morning weather report during CBS LA’s KCAL telecast. The incident quickly went viral on March 18 as followers waited to see Alyssa recover. A few hours ago, the vice president and news director of CBS Los Angeles Mike Dello Stritto Shares an update revealing that Alissa is being treated at a local hospital. What’s going on in the air?
The live feed opens with KCAL news anchors. Nichel Medina and Rachel Kim Wail the rainy L.A. weather and hope for clear skies. Just as they were about to finish the lead-in and deliver the segment to Alissa, it happened. Alissa was on camera as she rolled her eyes. Nichelle and Rachel look shocked and confused when their feed cuts to a March Madness promotion.
Update on Alissa’s health
Hours after the incident, Alissa took to her Facebook to update her symptoms for the first time. And it went well. She wrote, “Thank you for all the messages, calls and well wishes. I’ll be fine!”
Shortly after the message on Facebook, Stritto gave a statement to TMZ“Our colleague Alissa Carlson fell ill during the 7am broadcast this morning. I would like to thank her colleague for helping Alissa immediately and calling 911. Alissa is currently in hospital. Hopefully we’ll find out soon,” he said. “In the meantime, Alissa will be on our minds. And we are praying that she will feel better soon.”
Alissa experienced a similar situation 9 years ago.
Unfortunately, Alissa had health issues during another live broadcast. When she worked for another news station in 2014, according to TMZ. Meteorologists experienced severe airborne nausea and vomiting. As a result, she was diagnosed with leaky heart valve disease.
In an interview four years later, Alyssa said she was surprised to be diagnosed at such a young age. “I said, ‘Are you kidding me? No, I’m too young for that. And I’m very strong,’” Alissa recalls her reaction. “They told me that eventually the valve might need to be replaced. They don’t know when it will run out.”
It was unclear whether Saturday’s incident was related to heart disease.
She is also a health coach.
Alissa is also a health coach following her Instagram, “What do I do as a health coach? I changed my life!” she wrote in a New Year’s post with a montage of her clients. “Here are just some of my clients who have decided to get healthy and lose weight in 2022! Will you be next?!” she added.
She also went on an intense weight loss journey herself and revealed the results via Instagram (above). “Someone asked me about my transformation the other day. And I really don’t want to show them,” she wrote alongside stunning before and after photos. “It’s not that I gained enough weight to lose before I started this wellness program. It was more of a memory than feeling trapped in a body I was uncomfortable with. From feeling sullen to bulky, weak to feeling nervous about putting on clothes. I knew something had to change.”
Alissa is a proud cheerleading mom.
