Anya’s new role might put you off breakfast.

Taylor-Joy proves she has the acting chops (if not the lamb chops) to take on two-time Oscar winner Ralph Fiennes in The Menu, an upcoming culinary horror film set in an upscale island restaurant (and no, cannibalism is not on the menu).

She plays the girlfriend of a young foodie (Nicholas Hoult) who is brought in for a sleepover and is far from impressed by the pretentiousness of the food – or the violence that follows.

The film was written and directed by the Succession team and has attracted positive reviews since its premiere in Toronto last week.

The horror comedy currently boasts a strong 91 percent rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

Anya and the rest of the cast had to stay in their roles during the six-week shoot.

The actors who play the kitchen staff – including Fiennes, as the sinister chef Slowik – are trained by Dominique Crenn, America’s only woman awarded three Michelin stars (for her Atelier Crenn restaurant in San Francisco).

A new trailer for the film shows a class of wealthy customers arriving at a mega-prestige restaurant on a secluded island for exquisitely prepared food.

But sinister Chef Slowik has other plans for them once they sit down to his bespoke culinary delights.

The Menu opens in theaters on November 18.

Taylor-Joy has just finished filming the new Mad Max prequel, Furiosa, in Australia.

Production on the latest installment of Mad Max Furiosa was halted in Sydney earlier this month after legendary director George Miller contracted Covid.

Daily Mail Australia revealed that the production, which has been underway at a number of locations in and around Sydney since June, has been halted for a week, with all filming halted until at least August 15.
