“Bachelor” couple Clayton Echard and Susie Evans announce their split

Another one bites the dust.

Former “Bachelor” Clayton Echard has split from his Season 26 winner, Susie Evans.

Evans, 29, was the first to announce his split from longtime Instagram statement written on behalf of the two and uploaded on Friday. Clayton has yet to share the news on his own account.

“It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we wanted to share that we have decided to separate,” the videographer captioned a photo of the former couple laughing together.

“Anyone who has ever loved knows it was a painful decision that was not taken lightly.”

Evans didn’t go into detail about what led to the split, but noted that social media was just an “accent” and that the couple had gone through “significant pain” over the past year.

“We know that no healthy relationship comes without struggles, but we realized that we weren’t prepared for the outside forces that hindered our ability to heal not only as individuals, but as a couple,” she added.

“We’re both focused on continuing to work on ourselves so we can be the best version of ourselves.”

Echard, 29, has come under a lot of scrutiny for how he handled his relationships with his last three contestants: Evans, Gabby Windy and Rachel Recchia.

After Fantasy Suites, the reality star admitted to the women that he told them all he was in love with them and slept with each one.

But in the end, he chose Evans, deciding he loved her “the most.”

The dramatic ending led to Windey and Recchia being cast as the leads on the final season of “The Bachelorette.”

Evans also noted in the breakup announcement that this decision was not made lightly.

“This is not an easy time for either of us, but we support each other and hope to see the other continue to find happiness and healing,” she wrote on their behalf.

“Although Claysie is no more, we hope that our communities can support us individually as we move forward with love and respect for one another.”

The statement concluded: “Thank you to all of you who have supported our relationship. It means so much more than you’ll ever know. ❤️”

As early as August, there were signs that the relationship was on its last legs.

Echard revealed on Dear Media’s “Not Skinny but Not Fat” podcast that he and Evans decided to be in a long-distance relationship after living together for a few months in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She would move to Los Angeles and he would move to Arizona.

“We’re like, ‘We don’t know if it’s going to last a whole month [relationship] from now on or if it’s going to be a lifetime, but it’s like there’s no pressure,” he told host Amanda Hirsch at the time. “Let’s just love each other and be thankful.”

Evans, for her part, revealed in March that she would have turned down a proposal from her then-boyfriend.

We’ve talked about it and I told Clayton if you surprise me [with an engagement]I’m going to say no,” the reality star previously said on Nick Viall’s podcast “The Viall Files.” “This is not a fun surprise.”
