Clayton Echard29 and Susie Evans, 29, are both nursing a broken heart. The former bachelor stars announced their split via Instagram on September 23, and you better grab your tissues! In the post, both wrote, “It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways. For anyone who has ever loved, it was a painful decision that had to be made and it was not taken lightly.”
“We understand that there will likely be many questions about this decision – social media it’s definitely a remarkable tape and we’ve kept much of our experiences together under wraps, as I’m sure most can tell,” their lengthy statement continued. Claysie (as fans call the duo) went on to say that despite the many positives, there is still a “significant amount of pain.” And that they “were not prepared for the external forces that hindered our ability to heal not only as individuals but as a couple.”
Regardless, they’re both “focused on continuing to work on ourselves so we can be the best version of ourselves.” The broadcasters added that although it is “not an easy time”, they will still “support” each other after the split. “Although Claysie is no more, we hope that our communities can support us individually as we move forward with love and respect for one another.” Thank you to all of you who have supported our relationship. It means so much more than you will ever know,” their joint post concludes.
Susie and the ex bachelor star met during Season 26 of ABC’s hit dating series. They didn’t originally end up together on the show, but actually got together after the dramatic finale. During his season, Clayton had told all three finalists that he was in love with them. Finalists included Susie, Gabby Windy31 and Rachel Recchia26.
The Virginia Beach native had told him she didn’t feel comfortable with him being intimate with the other two women, leading to a blowup between them. Clayton ended up sending Susie home, but then wanted another chance with her. Susie agreed, but only if Clayton cut ties with Gabby and Rachel. “I was really shocked at how it all ended,” she said during the finale. “The way you treated me, the way you turned, then my mentality towards you changed. I couldn’t even defend myself. I felt so vulnerable. I felt like that night you made me question my inner voice, my intuition, everything. I felt like a terrible person. It was humiliating to be honest. You made me feel wrong and bad and it was heartbreaking.” Susie ended up rejecting him during the final rose ceremony and they didn’t officially give him another chance until the season ended. After all the drama, it might be best to end this relationship amicably.
