floating time There is a record to be lost. The layered production begs for repeated listens, with each new play uncovering a new sound within the intricate arrangements. “must be true”
“It is both a breakup song as well as a self-exploratory meditation. I had been dating someone for a while when it became clear that it was not going to work out. cute imo, i know. I specifically remember working on most of these when I went to West Texas in January 2019 for a writing/recording retreat. This track feels like the start of this record’s journey, not just in sequence but in chronology. Kinda sounds like a prologue to a book.
“correct”
“Stability/Anxiety/Indecision. ‘Right Thing’ sets the scene musically and conceptually, leaning into dark pop rather than another compelling journey. It builds on the premise of “temporary time” by exploring feelings of stability and impatience”. helps. In my mid-30s, I was worried about life, music, and the future. I was overthinking where I wanted to go creatively, which caused, among other things, depression. Got into position. The track has a lot to do with uncertainty and insecurity. ‘Can’t tell if I’m doing the right thing.’ This track also includes micro-recordings of my family’s old VHS tapes that featured my dad. It’s really meaningful to me, especially now that he’s passed. One of my favorite memories of the last time I was Showing him how I incorporated it into the song, he was happy.
“is it time”
“‘Is It Time’ is an introspective continuation of feelings expressed in a way correct, just from a different angle – not as anxious as it is calm in its language and musical spirit. It’s more like a test – almost positive, but more material and implicit. It’s as if I’m ready to “dive in” – ready for change and ready to actually make change happen.
“Word”
“In many ways, ‘Words’ is the pinnacle of the record for me. I mean it in terms of musicality and sonic creativity. The meaning is kind of all over the place, but definitely has a kind of part A/part B quality because it was written over a long and emotionally dense period of time. The first half is a reflection of some of the relationships I’ve had throughout my life. The second half draws more into the record’s concept – self-help/discovery.
“Solo”
The song is mostly about being with a partner, both parties knowing it probably isn’t going to last long, yet they both feel compelled to spend time together. It’s mostly a personal, romantic kind of song. is a song by. If that makes sense, ‘Solo’ is a call to both individuals. This track is honestly hard for me these days. Kinda just the musical and emotional glue that holds the record together.
“Excellent”
“This song is about keeping your chin up. I think I’m a little tired of writing in the pessimistic way that I’ve been used to in the past. I was in a good mood when I wrote these songs – about the future. Excited for – I find V2 a bit sarcastic, probably because I have a hard time being overly positive in my lyrics. ‘I Can’t Imagine a Perfect Life.’ At the end of the day, it’s really about trying to look the best in yourself and having one of those good days.
“fk”
“I think the song is mostly about big, inevitable changes in life. The first verse is about working my studio during the day because I had roommates at the time and couldn’t easily record. While It helped my workflow, didn’t help me with the anxiety and depression. The rest of the song explores those feelings of anxiety and the need for change. Also, I feel like Jon Joseph is helping out with some extra production, Also Aaron added pedal steel, saving the song.
“decide”
“It’s the oldest song off the record. I wrote and recorded it over a long period of time, starting with drastic measures Day. Most of the lyrics came about when my dad was diagnosed with cancer in early 2019. At the time, my partner and I were living together, but we broke up, and I moved to Houston to live with my father and family for a while. , It was one of the most difficult times I have ever been through in my life. The lyrics of the song are a bit awkward. With everything else going, it was a very difficult breakup. This is a conversation between my ex and me during a really distressed time. We went back and forth about continuing our relationship, and I feel like this song is like a big flashing stop sign. Luckily we are still good friends, but it was a very difficult time for both of us.
“Tabitha”
“This track is super personal to me. I still haven’t found a way to comfortably talk about the lyrical content. All I can say is that it deals with the internal struggles within a family unit. It’s hard for me Maybe, although I could talk about the production with this track for hours. It’s totally technical and was undoubtedly the most difficult track for Danny and I to work on. There’s so much going on that we had to go to LA It took a whole couple of days to mix it in their studio. Also, the name ‘Tabitha’ has nothing to do with the content of the song. It was just an idea that I randomly came up with when I first started it. Renamed Pro Tools Session.
