Damar Hamlin Visited Capitol Hill to promote an important cause Wednesday… urging lawmakers to use more AEDs in schools across the country — less than three months after he suffered a cardiac arrest and nearly died during a Monday Night Football game.
The Buffalo Bills’ security encouraged politicians to support the AED Access Act, a bill promoting student access to defibrillators in elementary and middle schools… that became a focus for Hamlin after his fall in a defibrillator. field in January
“Sudden cardiac arrest affects more than 7,000 children under 18 every year in our country,” Hamlin said. Research shows that 1 in every 300 youth has undetected heart failure. which puts them at risk.”
“For schools with AEDs, the survival rate of children from sudden cardiac arrest is seven times higher. with the school off the field of the NFL game.”
Of course, Hamlin became the leader in AED and CPR awareness a few months later. his medical emergency … and even started his own “3 For Heart” campaign.
