Bindi Irwin has revealed she recently underwent a “terrifying” operation after being diagnosed with endometriosis.
“Dear friend I struggled for a long time wondering if I should share this journey with you in such a public place. It comes from the responsibility that I feel to share my story with other women in need.” The 24-year-old daughter of late Steve Irwin. captioned a photo of her lying in a hospital bed on Tuesday.
“For 10 years I struggled with fatigue, pain and nausea. Trying to be positive and hiding pain has been a long road. The past 10 years have included lots of tests, doctor visits, scans, etc.”
Bindi explained that at one point, the doctor told her that her problems were simply things that she was “dealing” as a woman.
“I gave up completely. try to work through the pain I didn’t find the answer until a friend @lesliemosier Help set the course for my revival. I decided to undergo surgery for endometriosis.”

“Crick! It’s The Irwins,” the actor continued. “Going for surgery was scary. But I know that I can’t live my life the way I do. Every part of my life was torn to shreds. because of the pain.”
She revealed that doctors found 37 lesions, some of which were “Very deep and difficult to remove,” along with the chocolate cyst.
“The first words that @seckinmd said to me when I was recovering were, Examining the pain for years is inexplicable,” Bindi added, before thanking friends, family and doctors for believing her pain was real.
“I am on a path of recovery and my gratitude is overwhelmed,” she continued.
“For those who asked about the plan being cancelled. Unanswered Messages & Absence – I have poured all my energy into my daughter and our family… Please be gentle & pause before you ask me. (or any woman) when we will have more children after my body has deteriorated. I am so thankful that we have our lovely daughter. She feels like a miracle of our family.”
Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed baby Grace Warrior Irwin Powell in March 2021, naming her after her father.
Powell, 26, also used social media to pay tribute to his wife following her surgery.
“You inspire me to be strong in all areas of my life. Seeing you go through pain to care for our families and continue our conservation work while ravaged by endometriosis. It’s something that will forever inspire me,” he captioned the photo of a couple hugging on the beach.
“The greatest gift is knowing that you are on the other side of surgery without endometriosis. I can’t wait to start this new chapter of my life with you.”
Bindi’s brother Robert also commented on her snap.
“Love you @bindisueirwin ❤️ you are amazing. Not only for your strength to fight physical and mental turmoil. but also the courage to share your journey with the world to help other women who are suffering. You are my hero, Bindi!”
