Anita Dobson has revealed that she initially thought her husband Brian May’s 2020 heart attack was ‘overdoing it’ for her after exercising too much.
However, the 73-year-old EastEnders legend was later shocked to learn the true extent of the 75-year-old Queen Rocker’s ill health when she was hospitalized and found ‘very near death’.
Speaking to Richard Eden of the Daily Mail about Brian’s heart attack, Anita recalled: ‘He said, “Babe, I think I’m having a heart attack”, I said “No, you exercise.” And you’ve overdone it”.’

However, her guitarist husband of 22 years insisted that things were more serious than he thought, as he continued: ‘He replied, “No, it’s different”.
Discussing Brian’s recovery, Anita acknowledges that her bedside manner needs to be worked out.
She told Richard: ‘I was the saddest nurse you have ever seen!’

In May 2020, Brian opened up about his agony including being taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The musician was recovering from a torn muscle and torn vein as a result of a gardening injury, when he suffered a heart attack during his recovery.
Brian released Instagram video in which he told about the shocking chain of events that lead to his hospitalization.


Oh no: Talking to Richard Eden of the Daily Mail about Brian’s heart attack, Anita recalled: ‘He said, “Babe, I think I’m having a heart attack”, I said “No You’ve been exercising and you’ve overdone it.
Brian, who has now fully recovered, debuts the clip Describing: ‘I told you I had a torn muscle and that’s how I was diagnosed and we thought it was like a bizarre gardening accident… I forgot to do anything with the bum that people sounds amusing… but anyway, it didn’t really turn out like that.’
He revealed that after being diagnosed with a rip in his gluteus maximus, he was confused to find that a week later he was still in pain.
He explained: ‘I mean real pain. I wanted to jump on a few points. I couldn’t believe the pain. And people are saying “it’s not like a torn muscle”, so I finally had another MRI.’

The results showed that Brian had a compressed sciatic nerve, which he noted “felt like someone was putting a screwdriver in my back the whole time.” It was painful…’
However, in the midst of getting treatment for his trapped vein and torn muscle, Brian suffered another medical emergency.
He explained: ‘So that’s one side of the story, and I’m a lot better now. I am free from the terrible pain that really destroys your mind…
But the rest of the story is a little more bizarre. I was shocked, thought I was a healthy boy. Everyone says that my blood pressure is very good and I stay fit, I ride bike, I take good diet.
‘I had – in the middle of the whole saga of a painful back – I had a small heart attack. I say small, it is not something that has caused me any harm. There was pain and tightness in the chest for about 40 minutes. Feeling like this in the arms and sweat.
‘And you know, you hear things and you think “it’s a heart attack”. To make a long story short, my wonderful doctor himself drove me to the hospital and had an angiogram. [an X-ray used to examine blood vessels.],
Brian revealed that doctors found that three of his arteries were clogged and there was a risk of blocking the blood supply to his heart.
Doctors suggested that he have open heart surgery, but Brian opted for three stents to be placed inside his heart.
