Bryce Dallas Howard talks about how Universal Pictures asked her to slim down for Jurassic World: Dominion.

The summer blockbuster — the final installment in the new “Jurassic Park” trilogy in which she stars with Chris Pratt — earned $337 million domestically and $997.8 million worldwide.

The 41-year-old actress and director revealed in a new interview with Metro that there had been “talk” in the past about Howard losing weight and it came up again in the third film, although her director Colin Trevorrow defended her.

“In the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women in the cast, that was something that Colin felt very strongly about defending me … because the conversation came up again, ‘we should ask Bryce to lose weight,'” Howard said.

“He said, ‘There’s a lot of different kinds of women on this planet, and there’s a lot of different kinds of women in our movie,'” Howard added.

She also revealed that her protective director allowed her to “do so many stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I was on a diet.”

Women: “In the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women in the cast, that was something that Colin felt very strongly about defending me … because the conversation came up again, ‘we should ask Bryce to lose weight,'” Howard said

“So I’m really excited [at] all the action I had to do and I had to do it with my body, she was at her best, and I hope that’s another indication of what’s possible,” Howard said.

Her co-star Dewanda Wise, who plays pilot Kayla Watts, added that there was also a push back in her muscle tone.

“It’s always something.” There was a lot of resistance to Kayla having muscles, what it means to be a woman, to look like a woman. It’s just any country, it’s ruthless and it’s impossible,” Wise revealed.

Howard added, “There’s so many of us! In fact, we are half the population! And there were more women than men in this movie. These are numbers and scenarios [that are] at this stage still unusual and just normalizing it.

Wise added: “They’re introducing these heroines who aren’t perfect. There’s a story there, a feeling that you can be a hero even if you don’t feel like a hero. I’m interested in the future of action and blockbusters that really allow women to be all the human beings that we are.

Both Howard and Wise promoted the director’s cut of Jurassic World: Dominion, which includes 14 minutes of new footage and an alternate beginning.

It also features all the stunts that Howard and Wise worked so hard to pull off.

“All my stunts are there. I’ll tell you what’s not there…a lot of the stuff that was cut from Kayla’s stuff was just Kayla being Kayla,” adds Wise.

“There’s an ‘I am Sparta’ moment [where] she yells, “You don’t want that smoke!” where she drinks beer and eats peanuts, I kid you not,” Wise said with a laugh.

Howard added: “There are definitely moments before and after the stunts, between the characters, Claire and Owen [Pratt] on the plane after the whole Malta sequence, a little scene that was never written that Chris and I improvised.

“Getting those moments in there helps flesh out the story and the relationships and of course the opening [of the film] and what it does for the entire film, especially the third act. We are so proud to share the original version of this film,” she added.
