There’s a new “villain queen” in town in “Power Book II: Ghost,” and her name is Noma, in true “Power” form. Played by Caroline Chikesi in the most explosive form imaginable during the season 3 premiere, which aired on March 17.
The episode’s opening scene ends with Noma cutting off a woman’s hand to take the auctioned blue diamond ring, her fiancé Mecca (Daniel Sunjata), supposedly given it to her before he was killed. (aka the same ring that Mecca gifted Monet in season two), but Noma doesn’t really reveal her identity until halfway through the premiere. When she turns to Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), Brayden (Giannie Paolo) and Ken (Woody McClain) at Mecca’s penthouse. They demanded that they start dispensing drugs to her as a form of atonement. She is believed to have killed her lieutenant.
According to Starz, Noma is a “brutal reconnection” that thwarts Tariq’s plans to get out of the drug game and gets him, Brayden and Effie (Alix Lapri) back in business with Tejadas, as they are “really in trouble”. “Challenged to move more weight than before.” Obviously, she’s here for the thrill. In fact, Chikezie told POPSUGAR that her character’s “ridiculous, f*ck around and find out” “doesn’t play any games” when it comes to her business. Especially when she steps in instead of Mecca.
“She’s a bad Queenpin,” the actress said of Noma. “Men are afraid of her. and they should. ‘Cause if they mess with you they will know this She has no tolerance for nonsense. She doesn’t play any games.”
Chikezie said that most of what we see of Noma in “Power Book II” season three was created by show host Brett Mahoney when she booked the role. Get more inspiration from an unlikely source: Denzel Washington’s Frank Lucas from “American Gangster.” “When I read Noma, I instinctively knew what I needed to do to play her,” Chi. Gacy mentions Oscar winner’s famous character. “I can’t even find a woman to compare to you. She’s a man, talks powerful, so (of course she) will be Denzel in ‘American Gangster.'”
According to Chikezie, Tejadas, Tariq and his staff won’t know what hits them this season with Noma making all the decisions. “When you come into my life They were running around playing with their little things, but she came in and took care of them a little bit and showed them what was what,” she said. She restructured all that happened. I don’t want to say much, but tune in and watch. You’ll start to see how things unfold.”
New episodes of “Power Book II: Ghost” air every Friday on Starz. Look ahead for photos of Chikezie’s new character.
