Charlize Theron, 47, is open about saying she was ‘never at Kim Kardashian’s level of fame’

Charlize Theron is real about her fame as she claims she’s never even reached Kim Kardashian’s level in a candid interview.

The 47-year-old Oscar winner touched on several topics, including her current star power, as she’s featured on the cover of The Process Issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

As Charlize takes a more active role behind the camera as a producer, she was asked if it was an active move to step out of the spotlight.

The actress was open and honest, saying, “I feel like I’m in a place where it is what it is.

“I don’t think working more will change my level of fame. It’s just always been a mediocre ride. I’ve never been one for Kim Kardashian. But I feel like it’s always been that thing.

Charlize pulled no punches as she said she believes her star power has less currency now than it used to.

‘I text me all day and people say ‘No thanks”’: Charlize pulls no punches as she says she believes her star power has less currency now than it used to

She explained: “I will say that back in the day it was like, you want to have some of that fame so you can do the stupid things you really want to do.

“But now it’s like I’m throwing shit all day and people are like, ‘No thanks.’ I’m like, “I guess that’s not cash in the bank anymore.” And that’s nice. It’s nice that you do things on the merits of how good they are versus the idea of, like, “Oh, you’re this thing and we want to work with this thing.”

However, working less hours has its advantages, as she is able to spend more time with her daughters: ten-year-old Jackson and eight-year-old August.

Charlize said her children are becoming aware of her fame, saying: “They have friends asking things like, ‘Is your mom in a Marvel movie?’

She went on to say that she would sometimes be seen featured in Dior fragrance ads while walking through the airport, which would often lead to an illegal response.

The A-list actress explained: “They’ll pretend they’re so embarrassed. They’ll say, “Oh my God. Don’t look, mom. There’s a huge picture of you.’

For her children, however, it is not a world-famous actress, but the simpler things.

Charlize said: “When my kids say, ‘Mum, no one makes pasta better than you,’ nothing comes close. I never need them to be like, “Oh, you’re in this movie.”

“I still hold such a grudge that there is a mother in our circle who makes French toast that my child raves about. And she gave me the recipe and I tried it. And every time I do, my kid says, “No, Aunt Nicole’s better off.” And I’m like, shit. I’m much more driven by these things.
