“Danger!” Fans haven’t held back criticizing the iconic game show over its latest controversy.
Viewers are calling out the show’s contestants over their lack of pop culture knowledge after they missed a clue about world-famous, Grammy-winning singer Taylor Swift during Wednesday’s episode.
As the episode approached the halfway point, New Jersey-based winner Matt Mirsawa asked for a $400 clue in the “title that perfects rhyme” category, which quizzes players on their lyric knowledge.
Host Ken Jennings tried his best not to play the famous tune, and instead, he indicated, “And I’m like oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh, you just need to stop Can’t you step on my gown?”
But the clue clearly fell on deaf ears, as Meerswa stood with a blank expression on his face.
The spectators were further disappointed after the other contestants also did not know the answer.
After Meersova’s time was up, Jennings told the players, “I wish it was Johnny”. [Gilbert] Read them. This is what you need to calm down by Taylor Swift.”
Fans of the 11-time Grammy Award winning singer were quite disappointed that no one could name the song.
Viewers took to Twitter to slam the contestants, a Tweet“Everyone who makes it to #Jeopardy clearly has a crown in my book, but I can’t calm down when triple stumper Taylor Swift is the clue.”
“Taylor goes unanswered at the top of the board! I think you can throw a “you need to calm down” in regards to #Jeopardy many different ways, another wrote,
“None of the Dangerous Contestants Got a Clue of Taylor Swift Who Shut Down the Entire Show,” a third foggy,
another couple“Ain’t nobody got the Taylor Swift question in danger??? boooooooooo.”
Despite the hiccups, Meeraswa still managed to come in first place during Wednesday’s episode, winning $26,644.
It comes after even fans of the long-running trivia show went on air with Jennings’ crude joke during its July 18 episode.
