Radio presenter Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has labeled singer Demi Lovato as ‘Flippant’ after a year later she insisted on being referred to by her.

The Cool for the Summer star, 29, came out as non-binary in May 2021 and stated her preference for gender-neutral pronouns as she felt neither male nor female.

But she said in a podcast interview this week that she’s decided to go with him now because she’s ‘feeling more feminine’ lately.

Henderson criticized Lovato’s backflips on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday during discussions with fill-in host Pedro Vitola and newsreader Brooklyn Ross.

The trio seemed annoyed by her decision as they attempted not to misrepresent Lovato during her final appearance on the show in September 2021, for which the musician said he was grateful.

The show aired an audio clip of Lovato saying, ‘Everyone messes up pronouns at some point,’ which prompted Henderson to say: ‘Especially when they turn on you.’

“Demi really bothers me with this,” Ross responded, noting that co-host Kyle Sandilands — who wasn’t on the air Wednesday — often struggles to remember pronouns, even though she’s “everything.” cares about someone’.

He added: ‘We are not here to intentionally insult anyone. But Demi Lovato, swapping and changing… I’m sorry but you can’t expect people to follow your life and know what to say when it turns back and forth.’

Vitola also noted that such backflips make it difficult for people who are really trying to understand and get right with pronouns.

He said, ‘Especially if you are getting angry or upset when someone is not doing well.’

Less than a year ago, Lovato thanked Sandilands and Henderson for being ‘so great with my pronouns’ when she specifically went by him/her.

Sandilands slipped using ‘she’ at the beginning of the interview but corrected himself and didn’t make the same mistake again.

At that point she said, ‘I want to say thank you very much, because you are doing great with my pronouns.

‘You had the intention and I saw it, so I just want to say thank you.’

Recalling the exchange on Wednesday, Henderson said: ‘When we interviewed him, we were told [by her publicist]”Look, she’s taking pronouns very seriously.

“Try and move your head around theirs when you mention it. However, if you make a mistake, that’s okay.”

She continued: ‘I think people will see what Demi did and [think]”Maybe she should have thought about it some more before making that claim,” because she doesn’t feel that way anymore.

Ross noted that there are trans and non-binary people who take pronouns “more seriously” than the former Disney Child star.

,[People] He won’t like what he’s done and how playful it is,’ Henderson said. ‘But hey, each his own.’

‘I’ve actually adopted his pronouns again with me. So for me, I’m such a fluid person that I really am not and I don’t think I am… I felt, especially last year, that my energy was balanced and I had masculine and feminine energy that when I had to walk to the bathroom. Faced with choices and that said, women and men, I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessary like a woman,’ she explained.

‘I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human. And that’s what they/they are about. For me, it is like feeling human at its core.’

‘Lately I’m feeling more feminine, and that’s why I’ve embraced her again. But I think what’s important is, like, no one is perfect. Everyone messes up pronouns at some point, and especially when people are learning, it’s just about respect,” she said.
