New original song released for Vic VI
Demi Lovato has released “Still Alive,” her new original song for the upcoming horror film Vic VI by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group.
The high-energy track arrives alongside an appropriately aesthetic music video. The visual sees the world of the film invade reality when Lovato and her friends attend a private screening of the film, only to find themselves haunted by Ghostface himself. Lovato takes on the iconic role of “Final Girl” as she confronts her attacker in the final act of the video. The video was directed by Jensen Noen and features cameos from Mike Shinoda and Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills). The song was written by Lovato, Shinoda and Laura Welz. The video made its global premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop and across MTV’s global network of channels, as well as on the Paramount Times Square billboards.
“I can’t think of a more perfect home for ‘Still Alive’ than in Vik universe. I’m a huge fan of the movies, so it’s an honor to be involved in such an iconic horror franchise,” Lovato stated.
“Still Alive” plays over the film’s closing credits and marks Lovato’s first foray into new music since the release of last year’s album Holy Fvck. The critically acclaimed album, featuring the singles ’29’, ‘Substance’ and ‘Skin Of My Teeth’, saw Lovato return to her rock and pop-punk roots and featured tracks from Yungblud, Royal & The Serpent and Dead Sara. The album debuted at No. 1 on three separate Billboard charts — Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Alternative Albums.
Vic VI follows the surviving cast members from last year’s film as they leave Woodsboro and the Ghostface murders behind to begin a new chapter. Vic VI will be released in theaters worldwide by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group on March 10.
