Homi Adajania, who is currently promoting his upcoming web show – Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo, is popular for much talked about films like Cocktail and Being Cyrus. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, when we asked the director about the possibility of bringing back the world of Cocktail and Being Cyrus with a sequel, prequel or spin off, here’s how he responded. “Never. I’ve never wanted to do anything I can. It never interested me. If you look at my short filmography – it’s quite schizophrenic. I remember a DOP telling me, It’s like different people have made each film – be it Angrezi Medium, Being Cyrus, Cocktail, Finding Fanny, and now Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo. I love that about myself,” says the filmmaker.
He adds, “The only constant in our lives is change, and many people fight change, but I accept it. I love the fact that we change, it’s what keeps our lives exciting and not monotonous, and we change as people. So every time I make a film, it is not the same person making that film. Another thing that draws me into this space is that I love doing something that scares me to do. So this is definitely my go-to.
Deepika Padukone plays the popular character – Veronica in Homi Adajania’s 2012 romantic comedy-drama, Cocktail. Has he ever suggested to her that they collaborate again to make something with Veronica? “No, we haven’t discussed that. We would love to collaborate at some point, but it’s done. It was great for what it was. We can do a lot more and he’s very talented. I Sure we will collaborate when we have the right material, when we know we both will be able to optimize our talents and create something magical together,” concluded the director.
