Grayson Chance doubles down on Ellen DeGeneres criticism: ‘I stand behind’ this

Ellen DeGeneres protégé Grayson Chance has doubled down on his claims that the comedian is “manipulative” and “opportunistic” in a scathing new TikTok video.

“I stand behind all of this,” the 25-year-old singer said Thursday, shortly after his bombshell Interview for Rolling Stone for the talk show host, 64, was published.

“I’ve wanted to tell this story for a few years and I’ve been told repeatedly not to,” Chance explained.

“But the truth is, what you saw on TV and what was presented in the mainstream was just not what was going on behind the scenes.”

The songwriter added that “what happened to [him] wasn’t cool as a kid’, leading to ‘PTSD’ and ‘trauma’.

Chance said: “I’m sure people will have something to say about the article and how maybe I seem ungrateful for [DeGeneres’] effort in the beginning and the truth is that I am grateful that she gave me a start, but I am more grateful to myself for the times when I was left out and everything went wrong when I was a child.

He thanked his teenage self for being able to “pick up the pieces” and “fight back.”

In her Rolling Stone interview, Chance reflected on how DeGeneres vowed to “protect” him after signing him to her label, eleveneleven, and helping him secure managers, a booking agent, a publicist and a brand agent.

The Daytime Emmy winner – who was previously accused of creating a “toxic” work environment before ending her show in May – allegedly became “dominant” and made the “Shut Up” singer feel like a “pawn in [her] game.”

Chance claims DeGeneres is often “demeaning,” writing, “My whole week, my whole month, my whole year can change [with] a text message from her. That was terrible.”

Although the musician acknowledged that his former mentor was a big part of his early success, he blamed her for being “nowhere to be found” when he was dropped from her label in November 2021.

Chance released his latest album, “Palladium,” on Thursday, which a source close to DeGeneres exclusively told Page Six is ”comfortable[ly]”, dedicated to his interview for the music magazine.

The insider went on to deny the former child star’s account of their working relationship, claiming that DeGeneres has gone above and beyond for Chance.

Social media users showed their support for the “Timekeeper” singer in his TikTok comments, writing that they were “proud” of Chance for being “vulnerable.”

However, other followers noted that the situation doesn’t “seem that bad.”

One explained: “All me [see is] business relationship. She was invested in you and therefore wanted to be involved in every aspect.
