Growth of ‘Between Us’ nearly finished in 2019

a co-founder among us Developer Innersloth has explained how the studio almost stopped active development of the social game in 2019.

Innersloth’s Marcus Bromhander appeared on the Visionaries podcast last week (July 27) and talked about how the team was “basically done” with game development in 2019 (via transcription) pcgamen,

“We were originally [Among Us] Early 2019,” Bromhander said, after the game was released in late 2018 and received updates and additional content before 2019.

Bromhander said the team thought “that’s it, no more, it’s time to work on some more,” and that some employees “began prototyping some other game ideas that turned out to be too far.”

It was around this time in early 2019 that Innersloth saw its social deduction games become extremely popular, so the studio changed its mind and decided to continue developing and supporting the idea.

“Should we do between us 2 Or should we update the game that everyone is already playing?” Bromander added. “With so many people playing, I wanted to feel like releasing updates like this to a lot of people.”

It was then in late 2020 that InnerSloth announced that it was canceling plans for a between us 2Instead opting to push all the ideas for content into the original game.

In other news, it has been revealed that developers and publishers could pay upwards of £71,000 to show games during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2022. Developers will not only have to pay for the spot, but also ensure that the studio has a presence on the show floor.
