NewJeans, the latest girl group to debut under the HYBE labels, have made their debut with a new single titled ‘Attention’.
The slick new single was officially unveiled at midnight on July 22 as a first look at KST as well as Newgene, under HYBE’s recently launched independent music label ADOR (All Doors One Room). It was the first K-pop act to debut.
The ‘Attention’ scene depicts a five-man act roaming the streets of Spain, telling the story of a close-knit group of teenage girls as they come together to perform the song’s energetic choreography.

NewJeans is made up of Vietnamese member Hani, Australian-Korean idol Danielle Marsh (also known as Mo Ji-hee), Hahn, former children’s group USSO.GIRL members Hyen and Minji, who appeared in the music video for their previous appearances. The release of ‘Attention’ is the girl group’s first “content” to be exclusively unveiled by ADOR since the group’s launch was announced earlier this month.
A timeline shared yesterday on the group’s newly launched Twitter page indicates NewJeans are due to release more tracks and their video treatment in the next days – the next music video for ‘Hypeboy’ will be tomorrow (July 23) midnight KST But ‘Hurt’ will be released on July 25.
The digital release of NewJean’s four-track debut EP is scheduled for August 1st at 6PM KST, along with the simultaneous release of the final music video for the track ‘Cookie’. According to a press release, three of the four tracks will serve as the “title songs” for the record.

NewJeans was first teased in an interview earlier this year by ADOR’s CEO and lead producer Min Hee-jin, who explained that the girl group would “present the direction I’ve had for a long time with specific plans for a new girl group.” Huh”.
Min also revealed that the as-yet-unnamed girl group had been working for two years. “We auditioned in September 2019 and by the end of that year, we had completed not only the audition process but also the casting,” she shared. “The girls have been training for almost the last two years since the beginning of 2020.”
NewJeans also marks Min’s first “major” project since joining the ranks of HYBE in 2019, according to a report. Korea Jongang Daily, Min was previously a visual director notably with SM Entertainment, where she was in charge of creative direction for some of K-pop’s biggest acts, such as Girls’ Generation, F(X), Red Velvet, Shiny and Exo.
