Love Island’s Jacques O’Neill has opened up about being ‘scared for life’ as he received ‘death threats’ after leaving the villa.
The former rugby player, 23, left Love Island earlier this month after former contestant Adam Collard, who has a reputation as a female producer, was cast by ITV producers on the current series, after Adam Quickly started flirting with Jacques. Partner Paige Thorne.
And on Thursday, Jacques appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss life after the dating show, admitting he ‘just wanted my mother’ after his traumatic experience.

Jacques replied: ‘When I first came out it was very different for me, I was scared of life and what was to come next for me.
‘When I was at Holding Villa all I wanted was my mother. We were getting death threats. I thought to myself that I will delete social media’

Jacques’ family revealed during his time at the villa that he was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of nine and struggled to deal with emotional situations at times.
He continued: ‘Then I started getting messages saying I was a role model with the ADHD thing and I decided I needed to stand up and be there for them. I was overwhelmed by all this’
‘I’ve been posting a lot saying thank you because if it wasn’t for them, I would still be in that dark place, if it wasn’t for the people who love me I would be in a bad place.’
The reality star said: ‘When I got out, I was so ready to take it off, I was angry at my mother, I didn’t want an excuse for my behavior. It was not like that at all, my mother was getting hated, I think she felt she should do it.’
Jacques told co-host Ben Shepherd: ‘My plan going forward is to work with ADHA, children with disabilities. Many people come out thinking about money but if I can put a smile on someone’s face then it becomes my day.

Jacques previously described how he left the Love Island villa for fear that he would lose control, but claims the owners tried to keep him.
After Adam’s arrival the reality personality decided to remove himself as he declared: ‘Love Island was the worst decision of my life.’
Jacques was stunned by the arrival of former competitor Adam, who turned his eyes to 24-year-old Page Thorne, a rugby player’s teammate, before telling his fellow islanders that the player was ‘immature’.
Adam, known for his feminine ways, The show made a surprise return to the ITV2 show this week after originally appearing in series four in 2018.

Gemma Owen’s ex Jacques said he had reached breaking point after Adam arrived, saying Sun: ‘I thought if I didn’t get myself out then things could go terribly wrong and I could be physically affected.’
Jacques said that he removed his microphone and walked out the front door of the villa before the producers interrupted, prompting him to demand to be left alone.
He insisted he ‘can’t deal with it’ anymore and was in tears, saying he wanted to return to Britain.

He said: ‘It broke me and I was already broken. I was crying with my eyes closed. I couldn’t cope. I was feeling really terrible. It was the worst experience I have ever had in my life.
Jax stopped taking his Ritalin medication for ADHD seven years ago and did not expect the condition to be a problem during his time on the show, despite the owners’ concerns.
She has since said: ‘Any little thing at the villa, eventually, started to bother me and I was just cramming it.
‘I know the way I spoke to Page was wrong. I tried to apologize and she kept asking why I did it. ADHD isn’t just about not being able to focus. It’s also about feeling quite anxious, being on the very edge.’
Jacques was in good spirits as he took his mother Janet out to dinner on Saturday, with the star giving an update about her well being to her social media followers.
He shared a picture of himself with his arm around his mother on his Instagram page, writing: ‘Coming back to the standard on saturday to take r jaan (sic) out for tea.’
He wrote: ‘I just want you all to know that I am in such a better place mentally.
‘A big reason for this is because of all the love and support I have received!
‘I would be in a much more dark place if it weren’t for all the kind words, so thanks again, I really appreciate it.’
