Indigo de Souza shared “Smog,” another single from her new album. All of this will end. (due 4/28 via Saddle Creek) “Smog” is an upbeat synth-pop track. Leaving the atmospheric ballad of its previous single “Younger & Dumber,” Indigo spoke to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, detailing the inspiration behind the song:
There was a time when I was often alone. And I wrote the word ‘Smog’ when I was alone. and surrounded by people who often mow the grass in this neighborhood And I kept thinking how I hoped it would go quieter. And I don’t have to hear the machines ringing around me. And at night when I’m alone I would record a song and I wrote this song, kind of coming to life and reconnecting with myself. I want to go far away Which I’m lucky enough to do now… It’s great because I get to choose what to do with my time. And I make a lot of art and spend quality. Time with my friends and family feels like, yes, working hard to get to this point to turn my art into my work is incredibly rewarding because I have free time to focus my attention on my life.
