“On the Street” hits theaters March 3.
on the same On this day, BTS’s J-Hope announced that he would begin the process of mandatory military service in South Korea. The singer also informed BTS Army fans that a new single was coming next week.
On Sunday, HYBE revealed that “On the Street” will arrive at midnight on Friday, March 3 with a new music video. J-Hope himself “had a hand” in writing the song. which the record label describes as a “Lo-fi hip-hop with an easy-listening melody and warm lyrics.”
“The essence of the track comes from the word ‘street’, which can be interpreted as a place where many people’s daily lives pass—a metaphor for life,” HYBE adds. “It comes from ‘street dance’. A genre that represents J-Hope’s roots as an artist and also symbolizes the path he will continue on with fans around the world.”
The solo announcement comes just hours after Big Hit informed fans that J-Hope would officially begin his military enlistment process in South Korea. This made him the second BTS member after Jin to apply for compulsory service.
“We would like to inform our fans that J-Hope has begun the enlistment process by applying to end his enlistment deferment,” Big Hit said in a statement.
“We will notify you of further updates in due course. We ask that you continue to love and support J-Hope until he completes his enlistment and returns safely. Our company will spare no effort to support our artists.”
J-Hope has been very active in recent weeks. by releasing his Disney+ documentary jhope in a box which records the creation of his debut solo album J-Hope was also chosen to serve as Louis Vuitton’s brand ambassador.
BTS is currently undergoing a hiatus slated to end in 2025.
