‘It took it all back’: James Blunt says Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral was ‘very moving and emotional’ as he recalls standing vigil at the Queen Mother’s funeral in 2002.

James Blunt said Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral was “very moving and emotional” as he recalled standing vigil at the Queen Mother’s funeral in 2002.

The 48-year-old singer was a former officer in the British Army’s Life Guards Regiment before he shot to fame in 2004 with his debut album.

When he was appointed to the Household Cavalry Regiment, which takes part in ceremonial duties, James stood guard at the Queen Mother’s funeral in April 2002 – following her death aged 101 in March.
