Jenna Ortega is getting candid about her experience filming the hit Netflix series. Wednesday On the latest episode of Dax Shepard’s armchair specialist podcast
The actress sat down to talk about her career and industry. And some of the comments surprised viewers when she revealed the script changes that occurred while filming the show’s first season. According to the actress who starred in adams family– Title inspired by Tim Burton, she is borderline “unprofessional” in her attempts to maintain the authenticity of her character in dialogue.
“Everything you do Everything I have to play It didn’t make any sense for her character,” Ortega said, explaining why she adapted the script. “There is no reason for you to be in a love triangle. There was a message about this dress that she had to wear to the school dance and she said, ‘Oh my god, I love it, ugh, I can’t believe I said that. I absolutely hate myself.’ And I had to say, ‘No, no way.’”
While filming continues Ortega added, “There were times in that scene where I was almost unprofessional. On the one hand I just started changing roles. The script supervisor thinks I’m doing something. Then I’ll have to sit down with the author. And they’ll say, ‘Wait, what happened to this scene?’ and I’ll have to explain why I can’t do something.”
“I don’t think I had to put my foot on the set the way I had to on Wednesday. Because it’s very easy to fall into that category. Especially with these kinds of performances,” Ortega points out. Wednesday It premiered in November 2022 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most-streamed series.
She further revealed that it was her idea to incorporate Wednesday’s solo dance. She said, “Initially it was supposed to be a flash mob. and she should start dancing And everyone should take it and start dancing with her. And that I object because why are you ok with that? I said, ‘Cut it or let Wednesday knock someone off and it’s done.’”
Finally, Ortega admitted, “Many people know me from that now. It wasn’t my proudest moment inside. Which, I think, also adds to the level of insecurity and stress.” She also expressed concern about how the role will shape her career prospects in the future. “Because it’s not like I finally got these offers to these places I wanted. But I don’t want anyone to know especially about that.”
