Jesy Nelson ‘in talks with new record label just days after leaving Polydor’

Jesy Nelson has reportedly been let down by multiple record labels after splitting with Polydor earlier this week after just 14 months.

The 31-year-old singer, who also left Little Mix in December 2020, is said to have left the music juggernaut after deciding to go in a ‘different direction’ with her career.

According to Sun The songstress is already in demand from other labels who are all keen to sign her up.

A source told the publication: ‘There are some independent labels who believe they can help her return to form – and give her the freedom she clearly wants’.

He continued: ‘Jesse is really proud of the music she’s making and she knows what she wants when it comes to her voice.

Before adding: ‘She’s not going to rush into anything, but she’s had a few meetings and is excited about the future.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Jesse for comment.

The pop star continues to work with songwriters and producers in the US following the success of her debut solo single Boyz, which reached number four on the UK Singles Chart when it was released in October 2021.

A source told MailOnline: “Jesse decided it was the right time for her to take a break. He and the label have been going in different directions in recent months.

‘And as long as there is no fall; Jesse felt it was better to start afresh now – while everyone was still friends.’

He continued: ‘She enjoyed her time with Polydor – but seems, instead of moving forward with such divergent musical ideas for the future, she is now pursuing her ideas as an individual artist. Wants to be able to develop fully.’

A representative for the Romford native said: ‘Jesse feels it is now right for her to move in a new direction. As a result, he has decided to leave the company with Polydor.

Polydor said: ‘Polydor has parted ways amicably with Jesse. We had a great time working with him and everyone at the label wishes him the very best for his future.

In June, she addressed concerns about her solo album being delayed, after her record executives were reported to be ‘unaffected’ by early versions of her songs.

The singer left Little Mix in 2020 and released her debut solo single Boyz with Nicki Minaj in October last year, but hasn’t produced another song since.

The star told fans on his Instagram story that there is nothing to worry about.

She wrote: ‘Generally don’t comment on things like this because I can’t be bothered to waste my energy on utter and bullshit so I’m only going to address this one more time Am.’

The singer has been working on her new music in Los Angeles for the past few months and asked fans to stay ahead of the release as it is “almost over”.

She continued: ‘You guys are going crazy as I know it. I promise you there is nothing to worry about.

She ended the message: ‘I love you all and thank you x for being so patient.’

Prior to his statement a spokesperson denied any suggestion of difficulties with his record label after recording a handful of demos in LA.

A spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘In recent months, Jessie has been developing her body of work with a full range of tracks at studio recordings in Los Angeles, and fans can rest assured that they will soon see a new one from Jesse. You can expect to hear the music.’

According to SunJesse was asked by the record label owners to ‘go back to the drawing board’ when they heard some music she was working on.

A different source claimed: ‘Jesse has worked incredibly hard on her solo music. After releasing Boyz last year, she let the label listen to early versions of the songs she came up with.

‘The owners were sure there was potential but they wanted it to go back to the drawing board. He felt it would benefit the tracks – so that’s what he did.

‘He’s determined to only play them new music when it’s perfect, so he hasn’t heard any more since.’

The insider said that Jesse has ‘high hopes’ for the album to be completed.
