Jono Castano has hit out at trolls who attacked his model girlfriend Simone Holznagel over her ‘trigger’ weight loss – and insists her ‘healthy’ lifestyle doesn’t promote eating disorders
Celebrity trainer Jono Castano has accused social media trolls of ‘bullying’ his model girlfriend Simone Holznagel after her dramatic weight loss.
Simone, 29, sparked a backlash on Monday after sharing before-and-after photos on Instagram highlighting her weight loss, which she achieved under the guidance of Jono and UFC trainer Tony Saad.
But some of her followers, including those in recovery from eating disorders, said her transformation photos had “triggered” people who starved to stay slim.
Jono Castano has accused social media trolls of “bullying” his girlfriend Simone Holznagel after her dramatic weight loss. The 29-year-old model sparked a backlash on Monday after sharing these before-and-after photos on Instagram highlighting her weight loss under Jono’s guidance
Jono, a high-profile PT whose clients include Rita Ora, Rebel Wilson, Michael Clarke and Candice Warner, helped his new girlfriend get in shape.
Defending his methods and Simone’s transformation, Jono posted an Instagram video on Friday insisting the ‘Australia’s Next Top Model’ star achieved her results through exercise and healthy eating – not by starving herself.
“Simone did it in a healthy way,” he said. “She found love for food, found consistency and balance for training.
“You can’t bully someone and say horrible things about their journey. You’re doing exactly what people in 2022 don’t want, aren’t you?’

Jono added: “We don’t live in that world where people write anything.
“People have feelings, Simon has feelings as well as anyone who does theirs [weight loss] travel.
“My clients who are on a weight loss program have read it. This is effective. It’s a toxic world we live in, so if you write comments, think about what you write, because I’ve worked with people with eating disorders before, I’ve helped them.

Since revealing her body transformation, Simona has endured backlash, but on Tuesday she said she ignored what her critics had to say.
“People have commented that it’s ‘trigger’ and the ‘before and after’ don’t belong in 2022…” she told The Daily Telegraph.
“I thought what we’re not doing in 2022 is commenting on other people’s bodies.
“I thought I looked great on the left [before photo]. I think I look great on the right [after photo].
“One thing I will take away from this post is that you can’t please everyone. I have been older and younger, but I have been happy in both stages of my life.
Simone and Jono went public with their relationship in May when they were spotted dining in Sydney’s eastern suburbs
Jono and Simone first met a few years ago when she was one of the trainer’s most famous clients.
They initially kept their romance under wraps before going public in May when they were seen passionately kissing at Mimi’s restaurant in Kuji.
The genetically blessed stars moved in after just three months of dating.
Simone claims she still eats pasta four nights a week and never turns down a glass of wine or a cocktail if she feels inclined.
Jono believes that no one has the right to criticize Simon’s healthy lifestyle.
“Simone’s journey has been her own journey, in a healthy and balanced way, there’s nothing wrong with that,” he said.
“Read between the lines of the caption, don’t attack anyone.”
