Keith Allen has claimed that he now only does cocaine for ‘the right reasons’.

The 68-year-old actor is leading a quiet life from his climax these days, but admits he hasn’t given up on all aspects of his hedonistic lifestyle.

when asked by Guardian Newspaper If he still takes cocaine, he said: ‘It’s not like that, you’ll notice. If I do it nowadays, it is for the right reasons.’

Elaborating on what the exact reasons could be – he said a hangover can cost you a day, so it’s not worth it.

Keith smelled his first line in the late 1980s, when he was penning a script for UB40 and was horrified when lead singer Ali Campbell reportedly took a large sum of money.

He said: ‘I’ve never had a Coke before. I remember going, “F***, this is expensive.” I cut these lines, then Ali Campbell sniffed a lot and I panicked: “I’ll call an ambulance!” He said, “What are you about?”

Keith also revealed that he believes his wild days cost him a lot of professional opportunities, saying ‘in terms of career, it probably wasn’t worth it.’

His 37-year-old daughter, Lily Allen, calls Keith a “self-sabotage” who “can’t turn his comic gifts into a career” and agrees.

He said: ‘It is true, yes. I couldn’t channel anything. You can say that I wasted many years. You can even say that I had a ****** great time.’

Last August, Lily—whose mother is producer Alison Owen—said that things had become tense with her father and claimed they no longer speak.

It’s not clear if they’ve patched things up since then.

He said that he had not spoken to his father as he had texted him on Father’s Day, June 1.

Lily told The Telegraph at the time: ‘I haven’t actually talked to him for a while, to be honest. The last time I texted him was on Father’s Day and he texted back saying “thank you”.

‘We haven’t been connected for a while.’
