Welcome to Good Burger! After years of making a sequel, Keenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell confirmed that “Good Burger 2” will start filming this summer on March 17 on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The movie will premiere later this year on Paramount+.
“Ladies and gentlemen Kel has something to tell you,” Thompson teases before handing his Costa a certificate. Mitchell continues, “Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Good Burger, the home of Good Burger . . . Part Two!”
Fallon and the crowd immediately went wild. In fact, the host even jumped onto the guest couch to show how excited he was when “Good Burger 2” was about to happen. His reaction was fitting since the former “SNL” star was a longtime supporter of the film. As he said at the top of the interview. He reunited the stars of “All That” for the “Good Burger” sketch back in 2015.
“We’ll be filming this summer. and will be showing soon,” Thompson continued. When asked what would happen in “Good Burger 2”, the “SNL” cast teased there would be a “hijacking” and said they were “Want as many hiccups as we can.”
Thompson and Mitchell starred in the 1997 children’s comedy as Dexter and Ed, two prankster friends who spend the summer working at a local fast food joint, in a statement. Thompson expressed his excitement to star in the film’s sequel 25 years later.
“I can’t believe it’s been over 25 years since Good Burger was born with great customer service!” he says. And now to be back at the beginning of the sequel is surreal! Love acting with my brother Cale and can’t wait to show our fans what these characters are like since we last saw them.”
Mitchell added, “Ed is one of those timeless characters who brings joy and laughter to fans. And it’s a beautiful blessing to continue doing it after so many years. It’s great to continue the story of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both those who grew up watching it and their kids.”
“Good Burger” started out as a humorous “All That” sketch directed by Mitchell, but quickly became a hit of the past that fans shunned. Still cheering to this day “Welcome to Good Burger, home of Good Burger, can I take your order?” is just one of many memorable quotes from the movie. So hearing it again in the sequel would be great for 90s kids.
