Legendary actor Brian Brown reveals how grueling mini-series production sparked his anxiety: ‘The pressure’s on and you can’t sleep’
He’s made a career out of playing tough roles as a nail character, but veteran Australian actor Brian Brown revealed on Saturday that the recent creation of a mini-series raised his concerns.
The Two Hands star explained how filming the Acorn TV mini-series Darby and Joan in Queensland for more than 18 weeks with co-star Greta Scacchi affected her mental well-being.
They told Daily Telegraph A combination of extended shooting and being away from his family for such a long time left him battling insomnia.

He said: ‘I think days are fine playing a character – it’s when you wake up in the middle of the night and you’re under pressure and you can’t sleep.
‘And then you start thinking,’ ‘Holy Christ. I am being picked up at 5 in the morning. I better go back to sleep.”
The 75-year-old said that the ongoing Covid pandemic affected the overall mood of the production.

He said, ‘It’s hard to put my finger on why it does this, it just does it.’
Brian married his wife, Rachel Ward, in 1983, which means the pair will celebrate their 40-year wedding anniversary next year.
The pair met in 1982 on the set of the TV miniseries The Thorn Birds, where Brian seduced his co-star with a palm reading.
