Love Island sparks 466 Ofcom complaints over Luca’s behavior and ‘rigged’ finale in its final week

A total of 466 Ofcom complaints were received over the actions of Luca Bish in the final week of Love Island, arguing that the finale was ‘rigged’.

The Communications Office confirmed to MailOnline that the 286 complaints they received on July 26 were regarding Luca’s behavior of his partner, Gemma Owen.

On 1 August 180 additional complaints were received, with complainants unhappy that the pair had made the final, while others alleged that the result had been rigged.

Luca and Gemma finished runners-up in the final, while Ekin-su Kulkuloglu and David Sanclimenti were crowned the winners of the eight series.

In the public vote, Tasha Gouri and Andrew Le Page came fourth and Dami Hope and India Pollak third.

Fans took to Twitter on the night to complain that Luca and Gemma put Tasha, Andrew, Dami, and India above.

One said: ‘Someone needs to call com because this show is rigged as f**k’.

Another pointed out: ‘From the tweet on Twitter no one in the country is voting for Luca & Gemma which means it’s rigged for the f**k or Michael Owen paid the show big, they Should have been in 4th place.

And the fifth tweeted: ‘Luca & Gemma over Demi & Indiah?!?!? No. Rigged 100%’.

Meanwhile, fans were outraged earlier this week about how 23-year-old Luca treated 19-year-old Gemma consistently on a challenge.

The couple were at loggerheads over a raucous Mile High-themed challenge that saw dressage rider lick the chest of 26-year-old Adam Collard.

In total, Love Island received over 5,000 Ofcom complaints during this year’s series, with viewers sharing their concerns about “misconduct and bullying.”

And in the show’s first four weeks, Love Island received 781 complaints about bullying, age-gap romance, and concerns about the mental health of contestants.

Women’s Aid has already said that they are in talks with the show about some of the behaviors displayed by the men.
