Max George has paid tribute to his late bandmate Tom Parker with a tattoo.

The 33-year-old singer celebrated Tom’s August 4 birthday by getting his date of birth tattooed on his collarbone, as a way of remembering his fellow The Wanted star, who died in March after battling terminal brain cancer.

Max posted a picture of his tattoo on Instagram and wrote: “04.08.1988 Happy Birthday bro… you are always with me.”

Tom was just 33 when he died on March 30, two years after being diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma.

In May, Max revealed that he was struggling to come to terms with Tom’s death and said that he still texted his friend after his death.

He added: “I’m still trying to process it, I still really text him. If I find pictures or things that fans have made of him or that they are a good thing to do with Tom send a message, I will WhatsApp it to him.

“I just get a little comfortable in it. The worst part is when I’m not doing it and I do it accidentally. Sometimes I go to do it and I’m like, ‘Oh no.'” And Max is full of admiration for Tom’s widow, Kelsey, with whom the late star shares two children.

He said: “Kelsey is awesome. She’s always been really strong like Tom. They were literally two peas in a pod. She’s raising awareness for glioblastoma and cancer in general, she’s been great. We often Let’s talk, just check in, make sure he’s okay.”

Tom’s devastated wife Kelsey broke the sad news in March, telling The Sun: “It is with the most heavy heart that we confirm that Tom passed away peacefully with his family before today .

“Our hearts are broken.

“Tom was the center of our world and we cannot imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.

“We are truly grateful for the love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure that Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.

“Thanks to everyone who has supported him throughout his care. He fought till the end.”
