Hold on, thank you very much. It’s been 11 years since all five of the Spice Girls took the stage together at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony. They then embarked on the hugely successful Spice World Tour in 2019, but Victoria Beckham was not a part of the show. Now, in the news we’ve all been waiting to hear, there could be a reunion All Original band members by the way. Yes, Posh Spice is included.
In an interview with The Sun published on 25 May, Mel B claimed that Beckham would be rejoining the band for a reunion project. She told the outlet, “My theory is that if I say it enough, it will. But really, we plan to issue a statement.” Beckham – who recently revealed she refuses to let her husband look at her without plucking her eyebrows – has been absent from past projects due to her focus on her fashion and beauty brands.
While it’s not yet clear what the upcoming project will involve, Mel B has hinted that it’s bound to be big. She said, “What that is, I can’t say right now because we are working on what the five of us are going to do together.” “But it’s going to be something that the fans will really enjoy.” Representatives for the Spice Girls did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment.
Mel B isn’t the only bandmate to suggest a reunion could be on the way. Emma Bunton shared a throwback video of the group performing in Dublin in 2019 on their last reunion tour on Instagram on May 24. As a soft launch of their alleged reunion, the singer wrote, “Can’t believe it’s been four years since we kicked off #Spiceworld2019 in Dublin! It was such a special night 💕💕💕 Thanks to everyone who came along for the tour and sang and danced with us! Let’s do it again!!”
The five-piece band has displayed their closeness over the years — “friendship never ends,” after all. The four members of the five partied together for Geri Horner’s 50th birthday last year, and Beckham has certainly been seen warming up those vocal cords with Spice Girls karaoke. Is it too much of a stretch to think there could be another tour? or comeback show? At least, a memorable T-shirt?
Despite the band being the best-selling female group of all time, Mel B also revealed that they are planning their reunion project via “a group WhatsApp”. It is also a method of communication that boy band One Direction is using as well as reunion rumors. Whatever work the Spice Girls have, we “wannabe” there.
