The My Kitchen Rules reboot will go ‘back to basics’ with a ‘heartfelt’ tone instead of outrageous drama from the show’s last run
When the hit cooking show returns to TV on Sunday night after a two-year absence, fans can expect more sweet My Kitchen Rules.
And Channel Seven’s head of reality TV, Sylvia D’Souza, says new judge Nigella Lawson is one of the secret ingredients behind the reboot.
talking to mediaweekD’Souza said the famous English foodie was the perfect combination together with her co-star and fellow judge Manu Fieldel.

D’Souza said, ‘I think MKR is ready to go back to basics.
‘That is, the heartwarming series we once had.’
For most of its history, MKR was known for infighting between contestants, and no season would have been complete without a handful of outrageous ‘villains’.
The executive producer says viewers will now watch a show, “without the cynicism of later series.” That’s actually the difference.’

She gives 62-year-old Nigella a lot of credit for setting the right environment for the 12 teams of competitors as they battle it out for the top prize of $250,000.
The Seven executive stresses on Nigella’s way of bringing ‘warmth to the table’.
‘You really feel her love for food and her desire to do good for all… the best way to describe it is that it’s really like an intimate dinner party with a bunch of people Looks like those who just like to eat.
Elsewhere in the chat, D’Souza said that Manu and Nigella had a genuine and respectful relationship.

Nigella is replacing disgraced celebrity chef Pete Evans, who was fired from the Seven Network in 2020 amid the show’s falling ratings and several public scandals for Pete.
Nigella has previously spoken about her enthusiasm about starring in the series.
“When you think of your favorite food, it’s almost always about cooking at home,” she said.
‘I’m a home cook and this is the food I want to eat. I have traveled 17,000 km to find the best home cooks in Australia.’

The best-selling author will travel across the country with Manu as he critiques a new batch of passionate home cooks.
Manu said, “As manufacturer judges, we form the perfect team with our years of experience in professional and home kitchens respectively.”

Celebrity chefs Colin Fesniz and Curtis Stone are both returning as guest judges, along with award-winning food journalist and TV personality Matt Preston.
