Florida Okeechobee Music and Arts FestivalThe 2023 edition, held March 2-5 at Sunshine Grove, has confirmed the death of a participant. The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office said investigators were investigating the “drowning” they said occurred between late Friday night and early Saturday morning. An investigation is ongoing.
“We are saddened by the passing of one OMF attendee this past weekend,” the festival said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones, friends and everyone affected by this tragic loss. With all due respect to those affected by this tragedy. We have refrained from commenting prematurely. We will continue to provide our services. Give full support to officials who are identifying the cause.”
“In this heartbreaking moment We encourage the festival community to come together to remember this beautiful person,” their statement read. “While we continue to understand this devastating event, We encourage you to support and take good care of each other.”
A GoFundMe campaign was set up to help Nguyen’s family and roommates.
