San Francisco is one of the few cities that seems to be seriously considering compensation for blacks. And there were hard numbers on the table … from $ 1 to million.
SF’s Executive Board consists of: 11 members — Heard a proposal last week put forward by the Indemnity Committee. which was established a few years ago by order of the city George Floyd protests across the country
San Francisco could become the first major U.S. city to grant grants.

on Tuesday These people have shared advice on how to do the right thing with the African-American community. And they got $5 million per eligible black person. There are certain criteria that they take into account… including being at least 18 years old and identifying as Black/African American in public documents for at least 10 years. other people.
There’s more people can get under the Draft Indemnity Plan. In addition to a one-time $5 million payout, The committee also recommends a basic income guarantee thereafter of $97,000 per year for 250 years.
In addition, they want to clear all debts and tax burdens. Without any questions, and finally… a single-family SF house for just one baht. It seems that each family is only allowed to buy one. Although it’s still unclear.
As for all this payout… The reparation committee had no answer, leaving it to the supervisors themselves. BOS, on the other hand, unanimously really supported the proposal and said that they could fund it. later
Shamann Walton, the committee’s only black supervisor, leads the matter… and says he wants the severance package to be included in future city budgets.
BTW, not everyone agrees with the terms laid down by board — consisting of black leaders/community members in and around SF. One opponent was the NAACP, which while supporting the idea of indemnification was not on board with a $5 million cash payout… instead calls for emphasis on institutional investments such as schools/residences, etc.

Of course, getting through this level is a lot of hard work… and while there are some moves. It may take some time before this actually happens. The committee will submit a final report in June. And the committee will meet again in September.
