The first is ‘Shazam 2,’ which just hit theaters this weekend. And already got off to a tough start, with a projected $30 million domestic opening… one of the worst DC movies ever. Remember, Zachary LeviGunn’s future in the world of Gunn moving forward hangs by a thread… and you’d have to imagine his movies here. (Part of the former DCEU) bombing does not bode well.
Gunn and his colleagues may experience more and more pain. before they reach the actual new board. Which will start with “Superman: Legacy” for the next two years, DC has yet to release ‘Aquaman 2’ and ‘The Flash’…both of which were completed before Gunn came along.
Time will tell what those things are like. But for now… ‘Shazam 2’ hasn’t paid off yet. Meanwhile, Snyder’s fans are celebrating. two years anniversary of his “Justice League” movies – “Snyder Cut” as it’s known. And yeah… they’re clamoring again for more ZS superhero content.
“Snyder” has a few. trend Go to the bird app, including people calling out for Warner Bros. release rights To Zack’s creations to Netflix…where he’s making other movies right now. The reason…they want their man to do it. “Snyderverse” continues with those former actors/heroes – such as Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoaetc
Sure, it probably won’t happen… but the ardent fan base would want it anyway.
Complicating matters further is Zack himself…which this week announcement wheel — Courtesy of Darkseid, one of his big DCEU villains. It’s unclear what it is… but he set the internet on fire with speculation – apparently ZS isn’t going away either.
And the last one Zack spoke to — where someone once enjoyed another heyday — was from BA himself… who was singing the director’s praises in a whole new way. THR profile this week.
Bottom line… The DCEU has left some awful big shoes to fill, and those shoes keep growing as everyone waits for Gunn and Peter Safranvision to come to life
Starting from scratch is a long and tedious process. There are many things that need to be cleared out of the garage. And not everyone wants leftovers on sale… because WBD is looking for one.
