Strictly Come Dancing’s Kaye Adams has revealed that performing ‘sultry’ dance moves on the show will ‘test her to her limits’.
The Loose Women presenter, 59, is one of 15 contestants taking part in the BBC dance show and ahead of the first live show on Saturday, Kay told how she needed to ‘relax’ after being convinced she was ‘rubbish dancer over 40 years old.
The broadcaster also admitted she signed up to shake off any negativity over her age, admitting that as she nears 60 it will be easy for her to turn down the programme.
Ooo: Strictly Come Dancing’s Kaye Adams revealed performing ‘sultry’ dance moves on the show will ‘test her to her limits’
When asked what she thought her biggest challenge would be on Strictly, Kay confided that it was her insecurities on the dance floor, having always considered herself a “reserved person” and a bad dancer.
She explained: “I just need to relax a bit. I mean, that’s the irony of a loose woman. I’ve always been a pretty reserved person. I’ve told myself I’m a stupid dancer for 40 years and it sinks in and so you have this perception of yourself.
On the thought of embracing her sexier side on the dance floor, she continued: “I guess dancing really requires me to step outside of my comfort zone.
Dance floor fears: Kay told how she needed to ‘let go’ after convincing herself she was a ‘rubbish’ dancer for more than 40 years
“I mean, it’s all going to be out of my comfort zone, but some of it is going to be like going to the North Pole in a pair of flip-flops! So I guess the Paso Doble and all that shaky, sultry stuff is what’s going to test me to the limit.
A driving force for the star to really embrace the Strictly experience was so she could shake off any doubts she had that she wasn’t the right age to take part, with Kay adding that she’s always envied those who can move well.
She said, “Well, this is the last year of my 50 years. It would be easy to say no and you go through all these doubts in your head.
Acceptance: The broadcaster also admitted she signed up to shake off any negativity over her age, admitting that as she nears 60 it will be easy for her to ditch the program
“And then you think Strictly is a phenomenon and is loved by everyone. It’s an amazing experience. Despite the fact that I can’t dance, I’ve always had something in the back of my head when I see people dancing, and I’m somewhat envious of it.
She continued: “When you’re offered something like this, you either think, why should I do it? Or are you thinking, why not? And I fell on the side of why not do that and here I am.’
The Scottish presenter will follow in the footsteps of several of her Loose Women co-stars who have offered advice about her time on the show.
Kay said; “I got a lot of great advice from my Loose Women co-stars, Ruth Langsford advised me to wear a ‘handbag’ to rehearsals because ‘it can get a bit sweaty’.
Frank: “I just need to relax a bit. I mean, that’s the irony of a loose woman. I’ve always been a pretty reserved person. I told myself I’ve been a trash dancer for 40 years
“Judy Love, Sunetra Sarkar, Katie Piper, Gloria Hunniford and Frankie Bridge were also great, but the one thing they all agree on is that the main thing to do is just enjoy every moment!”
