Taylor Swift is dropping major hints as to why her split from Joe Alwyn happened, suggesting the English actor didn’t want to marry her.
On Friday, the Grammy winner released a new Vault track titled “You’re Losing Me,” which is only available on certain physical copies of her “Midnights (The Till Dawn Edition)” album.
Although she has yet to confirm whether the song is about Alwyn, the pair split last month after more than six years of dating — and Swift is famous for singing about their relationships.
“You say, ‘I don’t understand,’ and I say, ‘I know you don’t,'” she begins, according to Genius. “We thought that with time a cure would come; Now, I am afraid that will not happen.”
In the pre-chorus, Swift wonders, “Have I thrown away everything we’ve built or kept?” Before admitting, “I’m too tired for a phoenix. Always ‘risin’ from the ashes.
“Wait, you’re losing me,” she repeats several times in the chorus, “My heart won’t start for you anymore.”
The songstress states that she “sent you signs” but the subject of her song refused to see them. His “face was grey,” but “you would not admit that we were ill.”
“How can you say you love someone you can’t tell?” she asks. “How can we be a sad song when we were too far gone to bring us back to life?”
Swift’s powerful bridge, in which she claims she gave him “endless sympathy”, ends with the admission: “I wouldn’t even marry me. A pathological people pleaser. Who wanted you to only see him.”
Although neither Swift nor Alwyn, 32, have publicly addressed their breakup, a source told us in April that it “wasn’t dramatic,” adding that the relationship simply “ran its course.” “

However, Swift, 33, made headlines earlier this month for her “budding romance” with 1975 frontman Matty Healy, and Alwyn reportedly “felt slighted and distraught” that she left so soon.
She’s also reportedly upset that he put his “faith” in Swift when she told him that she and Healy, 34 — who he worked with on her “Midnights” album, which is due for release in October 2022 — they just were “friends”.
Meanwhile, Swift is in cloud nine.
“I feel like telling you – I don’t know – I’ve never in my life been so happy in all aspects of my life,” he told concert-goers at a recent Eras Tour show.
“And I just want to thank you for being a part of that,” she continued. “It’s not just touring. I just feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense.
Over the past few weeks, Healy – who is also English – has been caught attending the singer’s concerts (the rocker was even photographed sitting with her father), hanging out with him after hours, leaving the recording studio, barging into her apartment and even kissing her in public.
Alwyn, for his part, is reportedly “doing his best to stay busy and focus on himself.”
Earlier this week, he attended his first public event since the former called it quits.
