Ted Lasso Ready for the return of Season 3 and the return of old rivals above AFC Richmond and West Ham: the ongoing tension between the bitter past between Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) and Rupert (Anthony Head).
That’s right, when Rupert leads his team to meet Rebecca. Their old rival has risen again. And as a result, familiar patterns began to emerge as the owner of the AFC Richmond tried to keep her calm. “I love how she fell a little bit again because that’s just not the human condition?” Waddingham told TV Insider.
“The best plan of all, you think, ‘Oh great, Rebecca’s coming out on the other side of it,’ and then you’re like, ‘No, no, no, she’s sinking in that slippery mud.’ You just want to. Gonna take her hand and go, ‘Dude, let it go, you sung ‘Let It Go,’” she added. In reference to Rebecca’s karaoke session in Season 1, Sing Karaoke.

While fans may want to know how Ted (Jason Sudeikis) betrayed Nate (Nick Mohammed), Rebecca’s long-simmering feud with Rupert has lingered on. It’s also a big part of her story as Season 3 begins, having gone through Season 2 without thinking too much about Rupert. Now Rebecca must focus on the fate of her team’s success in facing him.
“I love that you can’t. (Get through it)” muttered Waddingham. “There are parts of her when she sees him… (you see) vibrations going through her system that you can’t help some because she’s never satisfied with how it ends.”
Part of her disdain for Rupert stems from the fact that “she played a part” in their lives together. Waddingham adds, Rebecca “even forgoes the chance to have children because he doesn’t want to. and that he had a child with someone else There is no greater pain for her than that.”
“I love the fact that she’s slightly backwards,” says the actress. “But is that life? Some people just bring out the worst in you. Even if you try to be the best version of yourself.” How the rivalry between the past will play out remains to be seen when Season 3 arrives on Apple TV+.
But be careful that “Rupert brings out her worst version,” cautions Waddingham. “And I will love you for that.”
