Blink-182 have postponed their first leg of their reunion tour after drummer Travis Barker broke a finger during a rehearsal last month.
Lead singer Tom DeLonge announced Wednesday that the rock band intends to reschedule several shows in Mexico and South America while Barker recovers from injury. The percussionist underwent surgery on Tuesday after dislocating and tearing ligaments in his left ring finger.
“I’m sorry to everyone in South America that we couldn’t get down there,” DeLonge said. Instagram video. “This is what we aimed to do for a long time. and we work hard And we just had a weird accident that no one has ever seen before.
“Travis had to have surgery on his finger. and we must recover We have to be strong before we can do anything else.”
The lead singer and guitarist made a commitment to the fans. Those who bought tickets to see Blink-182 this month in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Mexico said the band will continue to “do it all in 2024.” The tour was previously scheduled to begin on March 11 in Tijuana, Mexico.
“It is very sad,” DeLonge continued.
“These are the most important places in the world for a band. This is the pinnacle of our careers… coming down to play for you guys. So I want you all to know that we are very sorry. and we plan to come back …I really want you to know from the bottom of my heart. how important you guys are to us.”
On Feb. 8, Barker revealed via Twitter that he injured his finger while working. He later post pictures His swollen fingers and video of someone pulling back a damaged figure.

In October, Barker, DeLonge and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus confirmed that they would be touring together for the first time since DeLonge left the band in 2015. The musicians were scheduled to play at the Banc of California in Los Angeles. Los Angeles on June 16, 17 before traveling to San Diego (June 19-20), San Jose (June 22) and Sacramento (June 23).
“You’ve waited so long … and we’ve waited so long,” DeLonge said Wednesday.
“This is just devastating on so many levels, but we’ll make Travis better and we’ll come down – the three of us together – and we’ll shake it up. And we will have an incredible time with you guys.”
