On October 8, 2015, Craig Becker’s wife, Johanna Hove-Becker, jumped from the seventh floor of her apartment in Mons, Belgium.
They initially ruled Hove-Becker’s death a suicide. But after careful investigation Her death was ruled a murder with her husband at the top of the list of suspects.
Until April 30, 2022, Becker was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole and discharge from service in the United States Navy.
According to Becker’s indictment, Craig was “charged with battery-depleted assault for poisoning his wife on the day of her death” following an earlier incident in which Becker allegedly strangled Johanna in 2013.
Craig has repeatedly shown that he is not guilty and that it is the Navy’s fault for abandoning him throughout the investigation.

Johanna Hove-Becker is survived by her father and daughter, Isabelle Louise.
Johanna’s parents, John and Yvonne Hove, moved from Sweden to Jacksonville, Florida in 1989.

John also admits to never fully warming up with Craig Becker.
John Hove told The Florida Times-Union, “I never really liked him. He’s a contradiction… full of himself.”
